Slumping Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox dropped their third straight last night to the Oakland Athletics in a 5-4 heartbreak in twelve innings. Travis Buck had a walk off single to end the game. Red Sox starter Daisuke Matsuzaka let up 5 runs on 5 hits, 2 walks through just one inning of play. The Red Sox bullpen of Justin Masterson, Manny Delcarmen, Ramon Ramirez, Hideki Okajima, and Jonathan Paplebon all did their job yesterday by not letting up a run. However Javier Lopez surrendered the only run since the first inning with a bouncing chopper to Pedroia to end the game. After a 5-3 opening inning, there was no scoring through the next 11 innings except for a Jason Bay groundout and a Mike Lowell single. This loss really puts a hurting on the Red Sox who now drop to a 2-6 start.

The Red Sox will try to stop the losing streak when they send Tim Wakefield to the mound vs. Brett Anderson.
