Boston Red Sox Pitcher, Josh Beckett, has been suspended today for intentionally throwing a pitch at the head of Bobby Abreu which resulted in a bench-clearing incident. Beckett is suspended for six games and has a undisclosed fine on his hands after the conflict. Josh will start the six games today and if he opts for appeal, then the suspension will be held abeyance until the process is complete.
Angels Pitching Coach Mickey Hatcher has also been suspended for one game and fined for aggressive actions during the incident.
Additionally, undisclosed fines have been handed out to Manager Mike Scioscia and players Torii Hunter and Justin Speier for their actions.
